Traditional land clearing ends with a burn pile — or worse, a half-burned pile that sits for years. Beyond the eyesore, open burning is restricted in many Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky jurisdictions, requires permits in most, and sterilizes the soil beneath it.
Forestry mulching skips the pile entirely. Everything that was standing becomes a 2–4 inch layer of natural mulch: it holds moisture, prevents erosion, suppresses weeds, and composts into topsoil within a couple of seasons.
There's a cost angle too. Burning means dozing, piling, burning, and re-grading the scars — four machine passes instead of one. Mulching is one machine, one pass, one bill.
When landowners ask us what we do differently, this is the answer: we don't remove your land's value. We redistribute it.
